Totally Kids Specialty Healthcare is a small pediatric sub-acute hospital with 45 patients. We are the ONLY long-term care hospital dedicated entirely to children. Our residents' ages range from newborn to 21 years of age and we are dedicated to enriching the health and quality of life for our kids. We are always striving to meet the medical, developmental, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of our kids. We are looking for a skilled CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) to become a part of our facility's compassionate caregiving family. The CNA will interact directly with patients, providing comfort and basic care, monitoring their vital signs, and assisting with daily living needs. Each CNA has between 3-6 residents per shift, depending on resident needs.

We can offer a full-time job with 12-hour shifts. Flexibility, only work 3 days a week to be full-time.

Compensation:
  • Wage Range: $22- $23.96/hr based on experience.
  • Night differential: Wage + $1/h.
  • Weekend differential: Wage + $1/h.
  • Level II staff (additional responsibilities): +$1-2/h.
  • Referral Bonus.
  • Sign-on Bonus of $1,000.

Education Provided:
Many opportunities for In-service hours, as required for CNA certification renewals. BLS and FIRE classes are provided by the facility and you get paid for your time in those classes. We offer frequent Skills training and assessment - to stay up-to-date with changes in healthcare.

Physical Requirements:
  • Reading, writing and verbal skills.
  • Lifting requirements: Generally not lifting or carrying objects that weigh greater than 30 pounds.
  • Physical skills necessary to operate equipment:
  •  Must be able to stand, reach in all directions, lift and carry objects.
  •  Must have fine motor skills.
  • Must be able to read patient information, posted materials and other printed material.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and listen in English with a skill level essential for communication in a sub-acute facility.
  • Must have normal physical stamina.
  • Must be able to perform chest compressions and hand resuscitator ventilations during CPR.
  • Must be able to bend and twist.
  • Must have full use of both hands.
  • Must be able to walk intermittently, for six to ten hours per shift.
  • Ability to concentrate, use good judgment and maintain accuracy in the face of frequent interruptions and heavy workload.

Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience
  • Graduate from a state approved Certified Nurse Aide program.
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS/ Basic Life Support certification.

Duties Summary:
  • Works with Licensed Staff to complete care on assigned groups of residents.
  • Monitors vital signs and measures as directed, including height and weight, and head circumference.
  • Records and monitors special parameters for individual clients, such as I & O and seizure records per care plan.
  • Facilitates communication between staff and client’s family.
  • Provides basic direct patient care and documents care given.
  • Assists in client activities and range of motion exercises.
  • Functions as a clinical resource to new C.N.A. staff.
  • Monitors identified problems in client care by daily conversation with client family as indicated and keep LVN, Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse
  • informed of such information.
  • Fulfills attendance requirement for the facility.
  • Adheres to dress code as defined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Attends required facility safety programs, fire drills, and infection control inservices.
  • Responds calmly and effectively to emergency situations, and proceeds as per established protocol.
  • Utilizes measures to prevent injury, acts as an advocate to provide safe delivery of care.
  • Works under the direct supervision of LVN/RN.
  • Functions according to the expected competency level of care for infants, children and adolescents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Standard shift:
  • Day shift.
  • Night shift.

Weekly schedule:
  • 3x12.
  • Weekend availability.

License/Certification:
  • CNA (Required).
  • CPR Certification (Preferred).
  • Fire and Life Safety (Preferred).
